The Trane Studio  was created  in March  2003,   opening its doors in the fall of the same year. It has been a journey, like no other. Many challenges  later, we are still here, thriving, believing that art and culture are the underpinnings of a healthy society.   We have evolved into a community venue committed to artists and  to our friends and supporters.  Our reputation has expanded and is now internationally recognized.  However, we have experienced a few bruises along the way which have served to  increase and further define  our dedication and purpose  as we grow.

The Trane has actively  supported and sponsored  many  causes from local to international charities and festivals and a number of events have  become signature  to the venue. We are a small and intimate  team and  hope that with your continued support and  participation  we can take the art of music and the arts in general to  new levels.

We adopted the name Trane as a result of the founder’s admiration  for John William Coltrane, the legendary artist, musician and great humanist   Coltrane insisted that  we live  our lives   meaningfully  and responsibly, that we  stand for something greater than our individual selves.

The Trane Studio, was founded by Frank Francis, father, partner, writer, director,  and Founder and Artistic Director of Caliban Arts Theatre (1995 – present).
